The perfect range for your requirements

The Galaxy delivers an exhilarating drive via a range of refined, powerful, high-performance and fuel-efficient engines.
As part of the range of Ford ECOnetic Technologies, Ford EcoBoost petrol engines deliver more torque and power as well as reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. While the new 2.0-litre Ford Duratorq TDCi diesel engines are engineered to deliver responsive performance and low cost of ownership.
  • Engines and transmissions

    Ford EcoBoost SCTi engine

Our class-leading range of turbo diesel engines is now joined in the Ford Galaxy by the first of a new generation of high-efficiency Ford EcoBoost SCTi turbocharged petrol engine; these combine higher power and a broader spread of torque with reduced emissions and lower fuel consumption.
The range-topping 2.0-litre EcoBoost SCTi delivers 203 PS, with fuel consumption of only 8.1 l/100 km (34.9 mpg) (combined), reducing CO2 emissions by up to 20% (CO2 emissions are 189 g/km).

    Ford PowerShift transmission

Ford PowerShift delivers a premium experience for driving enthusiasts. Featuring a new state-of-the-art six-speed automatic double-clutch transmission, it cleverly selects the next appropriate gear at exactly the right moment, delivering lightning-fast gear changes with no disruption to the flow of power.
You’ll also enjoy improved fuel economy compared to a conventional automatic. As well as maximum efficiency and fuel consumption, Ford PowerShift has a sport mode that allows you to switch gears at the flick of the gearshift but without the need to engage a clutch pedal.

    Range of Diesel Engines

Our refined and quiet diesel engines range from the 1.6-litre Ford Duratorq TDCi (115 PS) up to the awesome 2.0-litre Duratorq TDCi (160 PS).

    EcoBoost 2.0-litre

The more powerful 2.0-litre EcoBoost SCTi (available as a 203 PS (300 Nm) or a higher performance 240 PS (340 Nm) unit) delivers impressive fuel consumption of 36.7 mpg (combined) and CO2 emissions of only 189 g/km.

    Range of petrol engines

If you prefer petrol, our high-efficiency Ford EcoBoost SCTi turbocharged petrol engine with 203PS is available.
Note: All CO2 emissions figures in g/km and fuel consumption figures are from officially approved tests in accordance with EC Directive 93/116/EC. Fuel economy figures quoted are based on the European Fuel Economy Directive EU 80/1268/EEC and will differ from fuel economy drive cycle results in other regions of the world.

    Euro 5 emission standards

The Galaxy engines are fully compliant with the new stringent Euro Stage 5 standards resulting in lower emissions and CO2 output.

  • Driving technologies

Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) with Traction Assist (TA) and Emergency Brake Assist (EBA)

ESP with TA monitors the rotation of the wheels, as well as the steering wheel angle, yaw angle and sideways movement. If the sensors detect either the front or rear tyres slipping, the onboard computer modifies the engine power and applies the brakes to individual wheels. This provides an enhanced traction control function by reducing engine torque if the wheels spin when you accelerate. Your ability to pull away on slippery roads or loose surfaces is therefore improved while your driving safety is enhanced.
EBA ensures full braking force is available whenever necessary, helping reduce stopping distances in an emergency. And, should you need to brake heavily, the Emergency Brake Warning repeatedly flashes the rear brake lights to alert other drivers.

Interactive Vehicle Dynamics Control (IVDC) with Continuous Controlled Damping (CCD)

IVDC delivers notable improvements to handling, stability and braking performance. Each damper is adjusted five times per second to guarantee the best possible occupant comfort and road contact. You can also switch between suspension modes – sport, normal and comfort – as the mood takes you. (Option)
CCD works with Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) to reduce stopping distances on rough surfaces when ABS braking is applied.

    Subframe mounted suspension

The improved suspension system in the Galaxy reduces steering friction and advances handling control. The front and rear suspension systems are subframe-mounted for optimal performance, superior steering and a thoroughly comfortable ride. The systems achieve high lateral and camber stiffness and, at the same time, fine-tune longitudinal compliance to absorb bumps..

    Steering and handling

The rack-and-pinion steering system with hydraulic power assistance provides the best possible steering feedback. To produce enhanced stability, special attention has been given to the tuning of the suspension and steering systems.

    Electric Hydraulic Power-Assisted Steering (EHPAS)

EHPAS is available with the 2.0-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel engine. The system can easily determine individual driving situations, like country road cruising or parking, and automatically apply the precise level of hydraulic support. As speed increases, less steering assistance is required and EHPAS automatically stiffens the steering for better feedback and road contact.
